2017 Bike Ottawa Masthead line

Citizens for Safe Cycling Ottawa is a non profit, 100% volunteer run, staff less, membership based organisation, founded in May 1984. We incorporated a few years later. We choose our board members at the Annual Meeting, usually held in autumn.

In a sign of the times, we have recently discontinued our phone service, since email and social media is now the best way to reach us. Sorry for any incovenience, but this will also help us to stretch your membership fees even further.

Mail box

We have a mailbox at the Post Office on Sparks and Elgin for your cheques and other documentation. It is emptied every fortnight or so.

We are often approached by the media as the spokespersons for cycling. We are happy to talk to you, but remember that we do have day jobs and can't always call you back right away. We do not comment on collisions involving cyclists other than general comments about safety, simply because we were likely (hopefully) not there when it happened.

We have thousands of cycling related images, not only from Ottawa, but also from several other cities in and outside Canada. We are happy to share them with you, provided you mention the source: "Citizens for Safe Cycling Ottawa". Images from our web site can be freely downloaded, provided you mention the source (if no source is mentioned, use "Citizens for Safe Cycling Ottawa").

As a volunteer-run group, our time is limited unfortunately. We'd all love to work full time for Citizens for Safe Cycling, but until then, we divide our time over advocacy, events, and management of the organisation (paying bills, collecting memberships and donations, organising small grants, reading up on not for profit rules, treasury, modifying bylaws, putting budgets together, archive). If you'd like to discuss our participation, contact our event coordinator. Shoot an email to This email address is being protected from spambots.
